I found these near an old home site from the late 1800s-early 1900s. Not sure what they are. Any ideas??

Without a size referance it is hard to say but i would guess the ring is a band from an old wagon wheel hub.

The top piece looks like a broken plow And know that I see the size the ring is probably from a single tree.

If the square holed piece has a beveled edge , it could be from a wood plane.

Nice!! Congrats!!

Thanks for the responses. Hoping to get back out to the site to do some more searching. It’s in an area where we found a cave that I believe was the one David Fanning used back in the American Revolution so a lot of good history in the area. Wish I knew somewhere around here in NC to be able to get something dated.

Whenever they get back in session, try a local university that has a good archealogical department. Might be a good lab test for the students.

It's frustrating. I have an area that is of the similar time frame and find things that I really can't make heads or tails of and likely most can't either due to condition. If I feel it is worthy, I remove it, but if not something that doesn't make any sense to me, I just put it back so that hopefully someone else comes across the find that has more knowledge than I. However, I love the removing the modern trash aspect and cleaning up the park of more modern junk like pull tabs or modern beer glass etc.
