For a question on some forum about Belgian coins I was looking through some of my other coins.

I found these old French ones. Upper 3 : left & right = 1792, middle = 1791.

It reads : "LOUIS XVI ROI DES FRAN?OIS" (Fran?Ois ???) and "LA NATION LA LOI LE ROI (4 ?) DE LA LIBERTE"

Does anyone know more about these coins ? Hadn't seem them for some years ; forgot all about them...

Thank you !

No idea but great looking coins. The ones in the lower pic look very similar to the design on the reverse side of US Mercury dimes.

GREAT finds BOB , all these coins have been struck during the French revolution ( around 1789 ) , the first one ( from the left side ) is a "2 sols" bronze coin struck during the reign of Louis XVI but don't manage to read the date , the second is a "12 deniers" ,struck in 1791 in Paris and the Frygian cap hanging on the pillar on the reverse symbolize freedom . But don't know if there is any connection with US coinage though . anyway great find not so common in that condition !

The third a "2 sols" as well ... no idea for the other ones but you have found some nice coins BOB
