We had about an hour and a half left of daylight when we received permission to md an older home site. So we packed up and headed there. The oldest coin found so far was a 1960 penny. Also, a 1966 quarter. All the coins were found near the old gravel driveway, not too deep. One after another, after another. My husband finds the target, I dig and use my pinpointer, while he goes to locate another target. Teamwork!

The small house was bulldozed down about 2 months ago. One resident told us that the home was once some barracks that were moved there. I am guessing 1920’s or 1930’s. There is a small creek in the back where my son found these 2 fossils. ( 6 and 7 inches in diameter) One was a rock that he broke open, and found the fossil inside. The creek overflowed about a wk ago, and is now back down to a trickle. I want to md the creek bed too!
We removed a lot of trash metal. We look forward to going back, and mding some more!

Thanks for the ID!! To think nobody picked up these guys in all those years!
Big fun for my son too!

That fossil is a real find! Pocket change to go with it is a bonus.

WOW - outstanding fossils....there must be more ..... go find them!

A family adventure! That's wonderful. Hope you and your husband and son continue to enjoy this great hobby together.

We went back to the site this evening. We removed a lot of trash metal again, and found 16 coins, but nothing older than 1965.
My son and daughter went down to the creek bed, and my daughter came running back with a fossil. Not as big as what her brother found, but just as impressive!
The second pic shows it next to one of the two, her brother found.

The kids have metal detected with us since they were very tiny, and are very good at it! ;D
