Dug this old Honor Student medal with the Lamp of Knowledge on the back recently in Savannah, GA. From the looks of it, it appears to me to be mid to late 1800s. At first thought it was an old copper coin, but after cleaning it revealed this cool old medal.

I love stuff like the great piece of history. Thanks for sharing it. Tommy

Nice piece. Congrats

Great old school medal. Some smart young person was probably disappointed when they found out they lost that piece.

Wow! Imagine getting a medal for being intelligent.

Certainly looks to be quite old given the high quality of the design. It's at least from a far off distant time when kids were given rewards after earning them rather than 'just because' :tongue3: Nice find!

I’m headed to Savannah this weekend for a conference. I’ll be one more of the guys on the beach at Tybee Island at low tide. Perhaps, I’ll see you out there.

Quite possibly. Low tide is around 5:30 or 6. [emoji106]
