This old place is near the levee on the Mississippi River south of Baton Rouge. I detected there for a short while but didnt find anything. The property is for sale so I imagine someone will buy it and take the old house down.

I seriously thought I would have found something there, at least a clad zinc cent or SOMETHING. I starting to think that whoever used to live there was to poor to have money to loose!!! :-\

Love that pic!

Back then even men carried coin purses and they were very careful even with a penny so they didnt do like now days when people leave coins in pockets, it got washed and fell under the clothes line. Makes me think I need to go ck my line again!

Dang....didn't think of that granny! I can go back, its not to far away at all. I concentrated around the front porch. And under a big oak or two that are out there. I need to imagine where the clothes line would have been. Out the back door and ????? What would you all suggest? Any particular way the lines would have run? I imagine parallel to the house as my grandmas was? I admit I didn't spend alot of time there, it really needs a good checking. Thanks for the tip.

Your welcome, I always look for where a clothes line might have been, at my house (tgis where my grandparents raised my mother) theres a sidewalk and the line runs from about 5 feet from the back door straight out to the ally gate.

I'd look for where they dumped their trash or where the outhouse may have been.
