Got out tonight.... In town there was a section of yard that is being converted to parking lot, so the top 6" of topsoil was stripped today. Since this town dates to the late 1700s, I thought I might as well check it out- especially since the rest of the topsoil will be stripped in the AM.

That site wasn't very promising, but I did dig the 1925 PA hunting license... The neighbor came over and after talking with him, I went over to his yard.... Not wanting to make many holes I focused only on the decent signals. The first was this nice barrel tap, which made my night. :laughing7:

Then as it was getting dark, I got another good signal... After opening the plug, much to my surprise I saw a gold edge in the dirt! But, alas.... It's plated. :tongue3: I've never dug many rings simply because they usually aren't in the areas I hunt, it would be cool to find a real diamond ring someday. The funny part was the neighbor was telling me someone he knows in town has dug a lot of rings around the area. :laughing7:

Guess the barrel tap means I need to give his yard another look someday! Thanks for looking!

It's still always exciting to find a ring, even if it isn't gold. The tap and the hunting license are cool finds too!
