But not anymore. Went to a ***gasp*** city park, which I never do. Got a very clear 1865 Indian cent, not worn down and a fully readable Buffalo nickel 1923. Soaking in mineral oil to see if the stuff comes off them but it looks like the coins aren't even pitted. Pics tomorrow. The dates just jump off both coins.

I think when they clean up, they'll both be good enough to put in an album. Shocker for sure.

Congrats on finding two old coins.

Way to smoke em out Great job looks like a good day for you!!!!!!!!!

1865 is a variety date, look for repurchase marks on 1865. I found one last fall.

Congrats! Looks like some parks still have goodies to offer.

These aren't great pics. Coins were lost nearly new. Just put a little oil on them for now. IMG_0179.webpIMG_0180.webp Also one of the nickels was a 1945-S.

I am more partial to the older stuff but a buffalo nickel with a date deserves recognition and worthy of many comments , 1865 Indian cent is a winner ... well done da Cat , and you even spelled nickel correctly , you don't but most screw up that spelling . ;)

Wow! I never find them in that condition, congratulations!

love me some indians ( only have one)

Unexpected finds,I'm sure your happy.

Went to another spot (20 miles away) and got the BIGGEST colonial button I have ever found and a nice readable 1781 George III halfpenny. Will get pics when I thaw out.

I expect them to clean up more. buff.webpbuffalo.webp
