Old iron lockbox, I wonder whats inside ???

Yesterday at the machine shop were my dad (and now me too) works, an older man came in that my dad had worked with for years.
He had with him an old locked box that he could not get open, and he figured with all the band saws and drills we had there, we could find a
way in
He also said the box has most likely not been opened in over 60 years.


Think for a second what might be in there while I make the next post........

As long as its not air it will be a wonderful treasure to the man who brought it in, could be old papers of his family long past??

All the gold items are 14k and most are marked 585





This thing is cool tip it and press the end and a pencil drops out. 14k too


Does anyone have a good website for gold watch markings?




Anyone have any idea on the age of the stamps?



Well he was nice and let me hold on to the loot for the weekend so I could share the pics with you guys.
I have to get it back it him on Monday.

Sorry , that is all I really know about it other then he said that he remembers last seeing the box as a kid and he is over 80 now.
He also thinks the watches are from Germany.

It was the swivel that told me that it had been opened recently. It is a newer variety.

the squirrel is a swiss hallmark and 0,585 means 14k

We would love to find a box like that.
We have been working on a treasure box to put all our really cool stuff in.
So some day our kids and grandkids could open with BIG eyes and say WOW!
