old key?

Looks like it could be an old wall clothes hook with the hook broken off, possibly from a boat. Thats my guess. The screw holes look recessed/countersunk on one side (top pic)for a flat head wood screw to fit flush. Can you put something in the pic for size?

Thanks guys. I need to take another pic, but the size is similar to a quarter. Bigcypresshunter is right about the one side having recessed holes. How old do think this may be?

It might be a hook for a fire extinguisher. Is it brass?

yes, brass or bronze.

since it was found on the beach it is more likely the remains of a rope tie, off someones boat or a rope ballard.
the rope would weave straight through the holes with a kind of double hook that runs inline with the holes to tie
off across a load. just a guess
