Found an old Swiss Army style knife in basement of this old Inn (built 1860's)...had it soaking in '3in1' oil for a few days. Still alot of rust...(looks like bone/horn on handle)..with no ID marks/writing on any metal parts, almost a foot long(12") opened up. Anybody have any ideas / see one like it?
Thanks.

Japanese from the 1960's. My brother had one just like it that I lusted after when he was a Boy Scout and I was in the Cub Scouts. I think you could trade in Mallo Cup coupons for one.

Now that is a really nice find! I used to have one of those many years ago when I was a kid. I believe it came with one of those old picnic sets. They are sometime referred to as an old Staghorn Mini Hobo Picnic Knife.

I had the Boy Scout version when I was a kid. It came apart in 3 pieces you could have a separate knife, fork, and spoon.

Not official BSA because it's not marked, otherwise I agree, a Boy Scout knife. I had one in the late 40's with most of those blades, but no spoon or
fork. Mine had a can opener, leather punch, knife blade and screw driver/bottle opener combo, perhaps another couple of things, and the official "Be
Prepared" emblem, and the saw sticks in my mind, but I think a friend had one with fork and spoon also, and his might have had the saw. it was a long
time ago. Before Swiss Army anyhow.

Great!...Thanks for all the info folks, I'll be working on rust removal (thinking there's gotta be markings somewhere on it.)
