Hello Guys and Gals,

I have found some old kraals near where I live. These can barely be seen from the ground, but with Google Earth, very clearly..... They are about 150 ft in diameter across the largest, with much smaller inside.
These were lived in by the South African blacks about 300 years ago or longer. A friend of mine found some spear heads in a similar one that were made from steel or something. So I am going to be looking for those.....

My question is... If these people made their spears or whatever out of stone, how would I find them here?

We still have to get permission to go onto the land,,,, but hopefully that will not be a problem - but we will see....

Any help in regards to my question will be appreciated very much.

These are same area but different Kraals,,,,, 3 kraals all together.

Peter! Great to hear from you again. I've been away a bit, but last I heard, you were facing surgery....everything turn out alright?

Good luck on your sites, and be sure to post any finds!

Take care

Roger

Roger, great to hear from you again.... Hope and pray you are keeping well? Yeah I went through surgery, and so far all seems to be doing pretty well ;) Just hope it stays that way for me.
We have had very long grass here making it difficult to detect, but winter is just starting so the grass will die down soon. In the mean time I have been doing research for new places to hunt. We should start in about a Months time, cannot wait to get going again ;D

God bless

Wasn't sure if this would be about beads or cattle. :D

We have three Boer Goats due to arrive at our modest homestead in about three weeks.

As far as locating stone implements, the only "fast" method I can think of is dig and sift through a screen or series of screens. Indelicate and destructive to the area.

Hello Charlie, thanks for the reply...... Umm Boer goats? are they from South Africa?

As far as screens and digging the place up, I will definately not be able to do that.... I guess I will just have to keep my eyes open to the ground, and hope there are some that lay on top ;)

I hope the weather is better for you guys now? we are just starting winter, so it is getting colder in the early mornings and evenings....

God bless
Peter

Their original stock was. These are "Naturalized Americans" now. :D BIG goats; 350 lb males. Stocky, meaty critters.

We have the American Boer Goat Association. Probably in South Afrika it would be redundant to say "farm goat".

THE ADMIRAL has it in her mind we need some bigger animals on our modest little 20 acre hobby farm.

We have eight chickens now (down from 27 last fall - the second and third shifts "got the axe") and I'm figuring each egg is worth about $5 considering the coop, feed, fencing, electrically heating the water dish for six months, etc., etc.

Good thing I work for a living so I can afford to farm. ::)

Peter,

good hearing from you. ;D

Not much help for finding stone items. :-\

Getting ready to go out, neat. Hope you find
a bunch this season.

have a good un.........

Thanks guys for the info.... wow those goaties look great. I found that you have to have large amounts of chickens to make any profit ;) I used to work in the chicken industry, was not the best of jobs.

SHERMANVILLE, yes it has been long since the last trip.... But we are learning ways around that problem ;D Great to hear from you again.

God bless
Peter
