Old lead figure...what kind of animal it?

Dug up this little guy yesterday at an older house. It is a lead figure of some kind of animal, but what? Squirrel? Cat?

personally, I don't think it was made as an animal (although it does look like a squirrel). It look like a broken part of something to me

The opposite side is flat. But it is definitely lead. You suppose someone could have hand carved this?

Could be window sealing lead, therefore a putty cat (if you don't have window putty in the states, please ignore this lame joke )
