It was a solo bike ride to the 3 fields I did today, so I had to stay local. These fields are not on the list of 'sites' but they do throw up a little mix of everything if you work at it. The aim today was to try & get just 1 hammered, as this year has been terrible for them. In fact we have more Roman Silver at the moment, which is kind of crazy. We also have more Roman Bronze Coins than buttons!
5 Hour Hunt;

1 Scappy
1 Lead Token
1701 Halfpenny
Circa 1649 Commonweath Half-Groat :headbang: (Our CW period coin, been awhile since I have had one).

Nice! I love those CW coins.. I've got a few in my "U.K. Monarchs" set. (Had to include Cromwell to keep the run solid)

You always come thru with awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing!

I had an investment (Brought) 1658 Cromwell halfcrown in near EF. Made a lot of money on it.

I'm only missing the gold (I think) for obvious reasons.... Same with HenryVIII gold angel... they will allude me for a few years more....

Great commonwealth coin. That one is certainly something I'd like to recover over here - improbable, but not the least impossible. Congrats on a satisfying hunt.

Its our only hammered this month!

Well done, Sir!! :icon_thumright:

Glad to see I'm not the only one desperate enough to consider actually taking the bike to a site!

Good job! What a difference when one is not on a Roman site right?, this looks like one of my random 4-5 h hunts with a mix of everything! Keep at it, the hammered will come too!

You always have amazing finds! WOW! Way to go (again [emoji6]).!!!!

That's a nice coin

While I can't exactly relate, I'd assume that would be like me finding more Cobs than milled Spanish. Now if Roman silver and gold is what you're after, I'd say you're positively in the right spots! Lol.

Statistically hammered should be at least double Roman Silver. However, we have lost some of our traditional hammered fields & because we have been heavily targetting remote Roman Sites which mostly fell out of use (after that period), this is where we are.

Hi English civil war was a religious oppression and murder of 10's thousands of Catholics. The thought of a catholic king called Charles might take back the land and titles stolen by the greedy self proclaimed english protestants .Then to oppress the Catholics of England ,Wales and Ireland for the next 300 years just be sure the was never to be another catholic claim too land or throne og England.

Those pesky Roman silvers, we are lucky that we do not have to deal with them in Oregon.

Congrats on the Cromwell - those are really hard to find as you know. Good luck with the hammereds ....
