Looking for more info on this piece and hopefully a time frame. I know it is not civil war use and most likely never was military affiliated.

In looking at the craftsmanship, my first thought is a tourist piece. Mexico?

Interesting. I had a buddy also thing it was Mexican. It is very nicely made. Definitely old for it to have that kind of craftsmanship. I can't imagine anyone taking time to make this this day and age let alone the past 50 years.
