Anyone know what to do with old cell phones?
Anything of value in them I should dig out?

Only three of them are little more than ewaste that should be given into reclycling. 300.000 of them contais some interesting materials, such as gold from contacts and some IC housings, paladium from SMD capacitors, platinum from paladec bonding wires, lithium or nickel from batteries, indium from old display types, cooper and nickel, somethimes gold from PCB.....to name a few.

Just erase the memory and recycle them-then again many times I have needed some info off an old phone-a lost number of an old contact or text (things that seem to be never transferred over to new device)

I truly believe one day it will cost people $20.00 to Recycle their Phones.
and be Mandatory to pay a recycle fee when you buy. like tires here in pa

I'm gonna Disagree, Only because I've seen many YouTube Videos on people giving Phones to Recycler Machines.
Only phones the machine offers a few cents to a couple dollars for are the Newer Flat type Phones :(
Personally I'd pull them apart, look close for any metal that looks gold, and keep it, then throw it in the Trash, or Bury it deep enough to Introduce it back into the ground Whence it came From .

I'm a Firm Believer in getting Paid to Recycle,
not making recyclers snicker behind my back at my foolishness :coffee2:

Strange...It sounds odd but I have kept all of mine....I love to fire them up every few years and look back through the pics

The big phones I found I took them to the phone store but when on the ocean floor they are not any good any more I guess the phone store recycled them
