Old Relic Enamel Pot & Pipe

Hello. My name is John. I am a new member and hope to get to know some of you. I was hunting around an old building today. 5/10/08 The building was built around 1850. I was using an Old Garrett Groundhog. This is my machine of choice right now. I have an Ace 250 but I am currently selling it on ebay under user name Johnny4506. I just can't get used to notch discrimination. I got a loud signal and started to dig. After about a foot I knew this wasn't a coin. I hit a large piece of metal about 2 foot down. I figured out it was an old pot of some kind. It was exactly 10 paces from and old oak tree and was hoping it was filled with coins. It must have been there for a long time because there was a 6 inch around oak root a foot above it. It was buried open side down. I was disapointed to find out it was not filled with coins. I recently read a story of someone who found a dutch oven wrapped in barb wire that was full of gold coins. So you can bet there were visions going through my head as I dug. I also found a weed pipe under the base of the oak tree and some clad coins. Here are some pics hope you enjoy and happy hunting. John

A big Howdy from Alabama, welcome to the forum. That's and interesting find, one I have never found in 25+ years.

Re: Old Relic Enamel Pot & Pipe

The pipe is circa 1969-1970 :) Not that I would know about such things... ::)

It looks like you have discovered the makings of a lab.

Were there any old bottles laying around?

I would surmise that the losers of these items were puffing the reefer while cooking some crank.

It wouldn't suprise me any.

What are the future MDer's going to think of us, when in the future, all they find is junk metal jewelry, one hitters and crack pipes?
