Damnails and I went to our Iron infested site today. This is the site of an old settlers fort that we have hunted several times. We have found lots of good stuff here but you have to sift threw a lot of iron. You find a lot of junk, but it is old junk so we don't mind. Most of the iron we find here is hand forged and that is cool. We have found CW buttons, flat buttons, one pre CW officers button, and three ball buttons. One today. We also found a hammer from a flintlock rifle. This place will melt your detector so you have to dig alot. Keepers for me today was a Sharps bullet and an 1865 IH penny. The IH had two holes punched in it. Found a lot of nice iron today, old hoe worn to a nub, gate hing with chisel markes to hold it in, and what I think is hand forged hook for kettle. I love the old iron, its a window to the past. The more we dig here and clean the site the better the finds will get. I love old relics, and today was a relic day. Thanks for looking.

Nice bunch if iron. Its always good to see hand forged. I really like the chain and hook. Looks like the IH was made into a button, but the holes aren't centered up like you would expect. Cool bunch of finds.

Like the iron a lot. I've had a few hunts where the iron finds were the best of the bunch. Nice job on getting it out of the dirt and cleaning up the ground so you can find even more. The hook is SWEET... so is the spike thing on the right side with the round head on top. Great hunt!

That's a lot of digging, but getting some cool items makes it all worth while. It's pretty exciting to find some old hand forged goodies

HEY NUT SEE YOU DUG SOME 1700S ITEMS UP . LIKE THE BUTCHERING FORK ...

Thanks, the thing on the right is a gate hing. It has notches cut in to it so it wont back out of the post. The post for the other part of the hing is broke off.

Those are some cool relics.

Man that's a lot of digging, where do you keep those?
