That's a hard one, try to post more pictures at that one, and how was the environment that you searched?
Do u know anything about the place u hunted on? :read2:
 

That's a nice find :icon_thumright: I found one 30 years ago in a lake and thought that it was just junk, so I threw it away. I've regretted doing that ever since! :'( These irons were used for about 50 years from about 1850 to 1900 or so, after that the steam iron was mainly used. Complete these sell for $25 - $40

a good book called "a collectors guide to pressing irons and trivets" by esther s. berney will probably help immensely. do be carefull with electrolysis as paul revere owned a foundry that made iron objects and they are rare and expensive. best of luck.

p.s. I have a similar sad iron from sa williams co. ravenna ohio around 1890 or so.
