Your photos aren't the best, but I think I see a hint of a center firing pin strike. If in fact it's a center fire, then my swag is inside primed 50-70. Inside primed, no head stamp dates it to the late 1860's, early 1870's. If you want something more than a guess then you need to have some precise measurments in hundred's of an inch, and we need to know if it is rim fire or center fire.

Probably a brass shotgun shell.

If it's a rimfire, probably a .41 or .44 rimfire handgun casing.

I concur with bosnmate..looks like and early 50-70...44 rim-fire is much shorter and has an H stamp on the base.. brass shotgun-shells are the same length as today 2 3/4 to 3 inches long depending on what gauge.

Thanks guys. It is center fire and I have look VERY close and see no markings. Looking online and it def resembles the 50-70. Would have loved to keep hunting this site but I was all alone in rattlesnake heaven!
