Went home to Tennessee over the weekend to deliver Dad's detector back along with a White's Bomber Jacket. I woke up on Saturday morning and decided to try in a few places that we've found some Civil War goodies already. Being that I've hit a few spots hard because of what we've pulled out of the ground, there wasn't many targets.
But, somehow, after going over it many times I missed this target. At first it rang in at +50-55. Once I got the plug dug, it then started to read as a good dime.
If you notice, it appears to have been thrown in a fire and it is pretty worn for it's age, BUT I'll TAKE IT ANY DAY!!!
I spoke with my uncle and he looked through his "Redbook" and noticed that there are a couple of variants of this coin. One 1839 O has a 1838 Reverse side and the other 1839 O has the 1839 Reverse.
I'm not quite sure, but this one appears to have the 1838 Reverse. Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
Ian
