old silver piece found at old missionary in New mexico

i found this a couple of years ago at a school that supposed to have been a missionary. it wasnt very deep, but rang up very high as silver. it has not been cleaned, and looks to have been made by hand. ( not machine made) it is about a the size of a half dollar around and about a half inch tall. I have not cleaned it, so it does have dirt still on it. i have been boggled by what this is since i found it. so any information anyone has is greatly appreciated.

Maybe an incence burner? just a guess

I agree. It looks to be the top of an incense vessel like the priest
would use to walk around the alter during service. Now if only you
could find the vessel itself.
