I don't think small binoculars would be used at a gun emplacement, they need binoculars that are powerful for seeing long range. Those types of binoculars are long and big, but that depends on what War and what was available. Plus, it looks like the 2 round shapes are solid at the bottom, how could one see like that? It might be a compus, clock or ??? Could you post a few more shots of it i.e., side, back and a scale (for size) shot.

Is it just me, or can anyone else see an image of a young boy? I can see it plane as day.

Lol not bad NH.
I am curious to hear more feedback from Mainedigger. It is probably a light reflective sort of illusion but it sure did stick out the moment I viewed it.

I once purchased a pair of war surplus goggles, you know with the round lenses anyway there was extra lenses in there own case, looked a lot like this there were various colors. hey wow I see the kid now. look at the first pic from a distance it looks better. you can see his shoulders even!mabe its part of an old 3d photo thing like they used to make at the fairs & circus

i dont think thats an illusion. its too perfect. maybe these arent binoculars at all, and are really some sort of photo holder/viewer or something.

Remember these two? If I remember correctly, a casino in Los Vegas won the Virgin Mary cheese toast in an e-bay auction, somewhere around $14.000.00 or more. The casino has it on display. The Reo?

Swrus...I see what you mean...kinda looks like Abe Lincoln...:) I looked at the piece and the "image" there is just some dirt that I haven;t cleaned off yet, but is kinda eerie how it formed that image.

after looking at the prices for what people pay on EBay for items with "images" in them..maybe I ought to spray the dirt with hair spray or something to keep it there and post it... ;D ;D, P.T. Barnum would love it...hey...maybe its HIS image...: ;D Although with my luck it could be something that I could get rich off of and as soon as I sprayed it it would blow the image away....:)

No doubt in my mind if you posted it someone would just have to have it. I’ve got some lint in my pocket I’m planning on posting on E-Bay when I get short on cash.
In all seriousness do you have a size reference of the object?

Mainedigger, would it be possible to get a photo of this item from another angle?

In order to be binoculars, wouldn't the holes have to be open on both sides? One side for the objective lenses and the other for the ocular lenses.
