Old Tool?

Today is the first time I ever used a metal detector and I found this old peice of metal that looks like an old tool or part of an old tool. It has a three inch handle, the end is scalloped with notch in the center. I don't have a clue what it might be.

Looks like a broken ball valve handle, the working end appears that it used to have a square hole in it.

Could be a musket/rifle wrench.
