I have had this kicking around my display case for a while. The flat base fell off. He's about 2 inches. Found in a Colorado mining town. 1208171620-1.webpAny ideas? Thanks. Frozen ground, hopefully it melts!1208171620a-1.webp1208171620b-1.webp1208171620c-1.webp1208171620d-1.webp

Your soldier is lacking much detail due to a hard life in the ground for many decades, but he surely is one from an early American toy maker, such as Eureka, American Soldier, William Feix,
MacLoughlin, etc... all whom operated circa 1890's up into WW1, 1916 or so. Your soldier has a pith helmet popular circa 1880's-1910's. Sorry, but that is all I can offer. Great early soldier, congrats. Sub 8-)

Thanks for the response Sub! That will be good information to research. Old toys are fascinating, same goes for the toy makers! I will enjoy looking into those names!

I know this was not found in California, but it seems like something fron the gold rush. Many different origans of people came over including european, spanish, and chinese etc. This to me looks like an asian soldier, much resembling the terricata warriors.

Possibly a chinese miner gave this to the next generation. The generation moved to colorado and mined there and later it was lost! the-museum-of-qin-terra.webp images-5.webp

It looks more like a KIA German toy soldier from the World War I era or before, similar to what you see here:

Notice the backpack on your soldier and the one the rifleman is carrying.

Thanks for the posts and taking the time to post pictures Old Pueblo. I definitely see some similarities. I wish he was in a little better shape. We are seeing some of that Arizona sun up here recently! Happy hunting:)

Sorry to hear that. The more it snows the longer the creeks flow, down here. Its been very warm this winter.
