Forty some degrees yesterday so I had already called my buddy to get permission to hunt his 100 acre site where I was last winter. Last winter I had got sidetracked looking for old bottles and then got hit with snow, I went back with the intentions of covering more ground with the metal detector instead of the glass probe and shovel. I called Oldjerseygirl up because I cleared with the owner that it was OK to bring her and my new girlfriend who is now getting interested in metal detecting and me, lol. I had gone the day before with the GF to a different spot finding only trash and one old nickle, 1946. (I felt like olddude with a near miss) The GF could not go yesterday so just oldjerseygirl and I went. Here are a few pix from my three hour hunt. The site was a old church cellar hole with old home sites nearby. Also known as "cool run" a stream runs through it that was part of the underground railroad. I will be hitting this site (the three of us) between now and when the ticks and chiggers come out. When the weather allows.

I left that spot and went back to the spot where I found the Indian Head cent only to find more trash. Here is a pix from the second spot on the banks of the Delaware Bay. There is pirate treasure out there on those Islands, we will venture out there when I can commandeer my son to carry a 20 ft 2 X 8 out on that marsh to cross a ditch so we can find some Blackbeard treasure!

Congrats on getting a bit of hunting in. I find modern bullets at some the places I hunt, but I have yet to find a gun. Good show! GL&HH.

That's not a cufflink, it is a rivet. Glad to see you could get out, still 20" of hard snow and ice on the ground here.

Yeap horse leather rivet, the buckle is horse harness related as well.

Finding a gun like this type is always a pain in the arse...
And in my opinion a "bad omen"...
reporting location / turn in is needed.
Most probable that it was used in a crime...
you do not want to be in possession of this.

Cool finds like the gun..:icon_thumright:

Cool gun!, nice hunt

Is the gun real or a toy ? You barely make any mention of it at all so I'm going to guess it's a toy. Pics without the mud would be cool...

cool gun find, real or not. nothing to report here in Ark on such a find, now just a show piece. do hate those pesky chiggers and ticks and mosquitoes and yellow jackets and.....

Looks like a cap gun, no problem with that.

Call me crazy but I enjoy finding those rivets and buckles. The gun is cool. Best of luck on the treasure hunt when you make it.

I like it too, the owner is a police officer and he got a good laugh of it too.

Cool gun!, nice hunt
Thanks Cris

Thank you.

I thought the gun was real. Bet you skipped a breath when you saw that one. Glad you can get out Brad, and thanks for reminding me about the war nick, lol.
