Several years ago my son found this pot in a sink hole adjacent to a creek in Gainesville, FL. Its neck was protruding out of the dirt and was approximately 20 feet below the surrounding surface and ten feet from the bottom. It measures 10.5 inches tall, 21.5 Cir and its neck opening in 2 inches across. It has a hole near the bottom of it that is 3/4 inch in diameter and has 4 flanges on each side, top and bottom with a bird like stamp above the hole all of which were made during construction. The pot has a high density of mica, sand and appears to have some shell in it and some drawings or etchings on the outside. The bottom is flat and it holds exactly 3 liters or 1 gallon. Upon placing your mouth to the hole, the falanges cause your lips to form a perfect fit. Does anyone have any ideas on this pot?
