I just missed what could have been a deal of the month, or year depending..... So I will usually watch my classifieds throughout the day, for good deals to pop up. As you all know, with the good deals, you gotta be numero uno... So I refresh, and there is a new add... it says, 1895 morgan dollar, first 45 bucks takes it. So I open the add, Yes, it says Im number one to view, so I call... no answer. I leave message, call right back. N/A. I text him, I want it, whats your address.... He responds sorry, you were the second call and the guy has already picked it up. I said, what mint mark was it? He was like mint mark? I have no idea, how do you tell..... I thought, this guy must be full of ****. Then he calls me though, and we chatted for several minutes, needless to say, he is an older guy who just had no idea about coins, his dad gave him that a while back and he just saw that coins were selling for 30-50 bucks on classifieds so thats what he did. I think I made him sick too, I tried backing up, well, you know sir, Im not sure what mint mark yours had, I cant be certain... But it was too late, I feel bad I made him sick, I feel worse I missed the deal.

I am wondering, for any of you more seasoned Coin guys... Is it any 1895 morgan that is a key date? Or just certain mint marks?

Wow, I really am gonna puke. I have a redbook just not with me, so thanks for that. (or not). did they only make morgans with an "O" or a "S" mintmark for that year.?

Those are the only ones listed.

Go to the coin forum, those guys can help better. :icon_thumleft:

Yep, as usual, I found what I needed to know on T-net. I do not know what condition it was in, and that seems to the only piece of information that would determine whether this could have been the find of a month, a year, or a lifetime.... To bad... Maybe next time.

Thanks T-net. I am over it now, although I still feel quite bad about telling the guy, he sounded devastated, he even said, "well, thats just the story of how my life goes isn't it"?. Would it make me a greedy or selfish person to feel bad for not being the lucky recipient of this mans ignorance today?-(because I sure did earlier today) Just wondering, Im sure the answer would be based on individual opinions. I can say this for 100% fact though, if I were the one who was able to call him first, or get there first or whatever, I would have felt great about handing him 45 bucks for that morgan. Good enough to not have offered to pay him more... I will leave that kind of generosity to the "stellar citizen" type out there.
