Well, in short, i went to a hunting camp/ cellar hole and found the following:

A compact; "Elgion(spelling?) American" and "made in U.S.A.", any idea of age;value?/ dinged with shovel badly/ my first compact/ 4 inch diameter
10 magnum bullet casings
2 pellet gun casings
toy shovel
5 bullets i think they were shot in the air; two hit eachother, cool find( back right corner)
clad

Any help appreciated ( i already googled and nothing, however, i only look a bit, even a good guess at age is great)

Hey there!

Your compact is probably by "Elgin". They made compacts mostly I think from the 1920s through the 1940s. I'm not exactly sure of that timeline, however.

I think you on to something, just keep on working that site and it will pay off!

Nice find!!Elgin made watches but did in fact make compacts also.WTG!!

Good start, keep looking deeper, And a question.....What are you calling a pellet gun casing? Pellet guns don't use casings, but I see two .22 hulls in your picture. Good luck. Monty
