Here is a ND piece that a well know archaeologist called a Goshen Knife. Depending on the cross section, I think yours could just be a much nicer version of this piece (chalk pocket and all.)

Beautiful piece. Too bad it broke at that weak spot.
 

The "chalk" is actually a fossilized piece of a cattail. The KRF deposit formed over a cattail swamp. I also read that the KRF material is silicified lignite. Gary
 

That would have been a beauty!!!! You might be right! Look at how thin that bugger is!
