Hey all, I'll be in this little town in S.E. Tenn. several more times before the year is out. As I am helping my sis-in-law relocate to this hilly town. They have a woods that backs up to the old T.N.T. factory ( about 6 miles behind their house, thru the woods) was just wondering if there were any encampments or skirmishes in this area. He lives on Fieldstone Dr. off of Hunter, exit 11 off I - 75. I stay for at least 2 days when I drop off a load and was just looking for a little more than just scenery, what say, any info would be very appreciative. I am leaving in the a.m. tomorrow for the 10 hour drive there. My detector is always with me......NGE

I live off Hunter road and I don't know of a lot of activity in the area you are talking about. There were roadbeds that run through the area. There was a road from Tyner to Georgetown that ran through the TNT plant. Then on the far east end of the property, near the railroad there was a union camp found. Off hunter was the Bell's mill road. That old mill was there during the war but I have never been able to hunt around it. We did find two camps off the new McKee parkway two years ago. There was a very large union camp just below exit 11 but it has been hit hard over the years. I would be surprised if you could find even one three ringer there. Good luck with the area. I would hunt the property you mentioned just to be on the safe side. If there happened to be an old house place that went back to the war, you would definitely find something there. Good luck.

Why were you never able to hunt around the old mill? Is it private property? Oh, Btw I made a mistake about the street he lives on, it is called Flagstone Drive........NGE (T)
