Hi everyone!!!

I am new to the site and super excited to be on here!!! This is an awesome site. :hello:

My treasure hunting partner 😈 and I are about to buy our first metal detector and would LOVE to get some feedback. We are divers and will be taking this to depths up to 100 feet, but typically more around 60 feet in warm saltwater. Any feedback on these two models? We are choosing between the Tesoro Tiger Shark or Surfmaster Pi Dual Fuel. Successes, failures, warranties, strengths, weaknesses? We would very much appreciate any assistance - this will be our first metal detector and we want to make an educated purchase!!!8-)

Thank you!!!!!!!

The Tiger shark is more suited for freshwater since it is a single freq vlf machine. You want the 8" Sand Shark for diving. I've had the 10.5" and 8" coil on both Tiger and Sand Shark and for serious water detecting the 8" is the only way to go. It is so much easier to maneuver around while diving or snorkeling. Not to mention the lifetime warranty on all Tesoros for the ORIGINAL owner. I would recommend buying any water machine new because the nature of water detecting itself.

The 12" Dual Field coil is too big and buoyant and would be cumbersome diving with it. It is a great machine up on the wet sand beach, but I didn't care for how it handles in the surf.

The CZ-21 is another machine you may want to look at if its within budget.

Like Fletch said Tiger is designed for fresh water, Sand shark is for salt water...

Oh wow! I cannot thank you both enough for your help! Obviously I needed some assistance! We are definitely new to this, but are so very excited to get moving. We have some very awesome finds so far - even without the metal detector. Any suggestions on a good place for valuing our pieces? We have ceramics, old bottles, creamware, porcelain and a very intriguing piece we cannot identify....
