My opinion is they are waste flakes. Always a chance they may have used them and never resharpened them. Check out someone knapping flint and see how much waste there is. Some camp sites you can fill up a bucket pretty quick with flakes. On the right spot though.

That's kind of what I was thinking too, sometimes I just can't tell. There was tons of this stuff everywhere. It's where I found the broken points I posted a couple days ago. Can't wait to get back there.

The first pic looks like a common utilized flake to me.

I agree with Quito if they have one series of edge work then that is the theory in my eyes ;)

Problem I am seeing is the breaks look recent on the last one. They may have been formed in a creek. The chipped area's patina is much fresher then the patina of the actual piece. I have a creek that tumbles boulders and shatters things that look like that. Looks fresh if that makes sense?
But if water found it could look like it was made yesterday :dontknow:

So is that a general purpose tool of sort?
They would knock a flake off touch it up do the job at hand and toss it kinda like disposable knives ... TN does have a point about the patina but I do know one thing your in the right spot for sure

Thanks guys. They were found in a tobacco field that just got turned so maybe it got hit by the disc.

good answer:thumbsup:

They are a good find even if they are just tools for the moment or flakes:thumbsup:

I think those are all flakes or broken artifacts. I'm drawn like a magnet to these type of finds. I have been looking water and road beds lately. I looked one broken field but it was to fresh. Needs a little rain and going over again. In a few weeks hunting will be great!!
