I have only used the Minelab meter and never have had any experience with the Sunray. However I believe the Sunray has a tilted face and a back light for low light viewing.

The Minelab meter was advertised as improved and recalibrated, but I find no evidence of anything "new." It does help ID the target, but with so many different variations of targets I end up digging anyway. Still worth it if you only want to dig numbers from say 090 to 172 for any gold.

dont need no meter,if its the right tone ,DIG!

The meters do help, as does knowing the tone Id of a target. There are lots junk that will sound the same as a good target but by having the meter you can see by the number it is rubbish. Using the meters takes time to learn you will see the numbers jumping all over the place and eventually it will settle on the one number. Meters can also be affected by depth of target, this is where the deep targets cannot be accurately identified. In this situation you can only rely on the tone of the target. Also ground mineralisation can affect the reading on the meter. Having a meter is good for mainly shallow targets, especially using parks for recently lost items. Not recommended for use on beaches where you dont need them as you should dig every target. As I say meters are good but have their limits. seeya Neilo
