As I'm now in a relatively small town, I need to open up another account to be used as either a supply or dump bank. Wells Fargo seems to be nationwide and there are several within close driving distance. I know each branch can be different, but does anybody have any bad experiences with them they care to share? Do any of them have coin machines? I noticed their website doesn't mention anything about having them.

I use the 6 Wells Fargo Branches as dump banks. I spread my dumps among them, each dump less than $1000. Their bags seem to hold quite a few coins. From what I can tell, $200 in nickels, $1000 in dimes, quarters, halves each.

I order from my credit union, which happens to get the same boxes that Wells Fargo gets supplied by.

They all seem to have coin counters in the bank. Just bring in your loose coin, hand it to the teller, and say "for deposit, please"

they only order me 2 half dollar boxes each time I ask, and they supply me with nothing else. not even 1 penny roll. (I tried to get a box of pennies too)...

They let me into their vault to get my half dollars, and it is always empty, usually only a box of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. A small bank means small needs. They only order when they get low on coin. (which is most likely whenever they have to fill out half dollar order slip, since they are already filling out those tags. )

Every bank is different. personally, i wouldn't get WF as a pickup bank. I do it for small volume, no more than 2 boxes every month. if you're doing 2 boxes a week, find a bank like BofA

Coincrawlin,

I have had no issues with Wells, but as you said...every branch is different.

Any of the following banks pretty much have a national branch network and should be around wherever the Navy sends you (in the US).

Rank Name (city, state) Consolidated assets in millions (Yes...those are trillions!)

1. Bank of America Corporation (Charlotte, NC) $2,340,667,014 2. J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (New York, NY) $2,135,796,000 3. Citigroup Inc.(New York, NY) $2,002,213,000 4. Wells Fargo & Company (San Francisco, CA) $1,223,630,000

Good luck and HH,
CD

Thanks all for the comments. I'm currently using BoA as my supply bank and only have two branches that are close, so I don't want to dump on them. I opened up an account at a regional bank to use as a dump bank, but feel like I'm wearing out my welcome already. I'm only dumping around $200 at a shot, but the tellers give me the look like I'm the devil. I think I may open an account at Wells tomorrow and fund my minimum balance with halves ;D.

i liked them until they charged me a 7.50 fee per box and i said nvm...

Banks experiences generally have more to do with you and the tellers then corporate policy. Bigger national banks tho are more willing to order coins. Another advantage is if you find yourself on vacation and CRHin it is easier to dump then to pay fees or take coins on a plane.
