This has already been posted no doubt, but here are the state's rules for metal detecting on state parks lands, including the beaches. I strongly recommend that fellow Oregonians who metal detect bookmark the page.

Yes, many times.
Pacific City, Gearhardt, that area.
Seldom find much besides bottle caps and pull tabs.
Sometimes get up to $1 in change but that is rare.
My best hope for beaches in hunting black sands for gold.
Working on a "Stealth" Hibanker design.
Couple years ago took me weeks to get a permit and had to list exact weekend and area I would prospect.
Some of my phone calls, I was told privately that they really don't care about a small operation.
But I wanted to be legal and it was hard to get a permit.
Next time someone who looks like me might just set up a tent oops I mean a windbreak and go at it.

I have not found much on Oregon beaches ; too cold for lots of folks.
Never hurts to try tho.

We plan to vacation on Oregon beaches. Most parks list all mowed areas. Here in Washington the parks if they allow it at all restrict to tiny areas. Washington last summer raised day use to 10 bucks or 30 for discover pass for access that used to be free and i am not going to get over that real soon It is no farther to the Oregon Coast than to Our own and we always have fun down there.

For sure bring detector.
I have never been hassled when detecting even when LEO vehicle drove by.
Some places on Oregon beaches have had real shipwreck treasure washed up.
Campgrounds can be great for modern coins, and maybe lost rings and such.
