Man this one is just plain REDICULOUS! I sure as hell signed it!

It's nice to see that Oregon has so much time on their hands, and extra money in their pockets, to expend energy on such a communistic bill. WTG Oregon lawmakers! You never cease to amaze me. ::)

I don't live in Oregon, but if they get this passed there, it could spread all over the country. I gladly signed it. Look at what they (the gov't) have done to smokers across the country in the last few years. They have taken a "legal" product and just made it almost impossible to use. A law like this opens the door for all kinds of infringements on individual rights. It might not be long before it is "legal" to own a metal detector but impossible to use it anywhere.

A friend of mine was gracious enough to take the time to research this bill. The following excerpt is in regards to what she uncovered:

In the 2005 legislative session there was a SB 64 dealing with
the knee jerk reaction to the idiot (Illegal Artifact Dealer) in Grants
Pass that ransacked Indian burial grounds and got federally sentenced. It
dealt with archeological digs primarily - but it did not make it out of the
Senate committee and was never sent to the house - it couldn't be enforced.

SO it looks as if there was in fact partial truth to the online petition. However I think we were all a day late and a dollar short in signing it....myself included!! ;)

I apologize for the confusion. :-[ But it is good news that this is old news.

Ah well better late than never but I damn sure don't want this kind of thing sneaking up on me....Kinda hard to believe I never heard anything about it when it WAS a potentially valid bill...........

Happy hunting folks
