This is the top section of an Oreodont skull. The scientific name if I am correct is, Merycoidodon Culbertsoni. My wife got it from someone, and gave it to me as a present.
Oreodont's were ruminating animals that would have looked somewhat pig-or sheep like, though some were the size of cattle. The features of their teeth indicated that they were closely related to Camels. They were wide-spread in North America during the Oligocene and Miocene periods.

That is fascinating to know that a piece such as that can remain intacked fore this long.
