Reminds me of an old gas valve, but i don't think that's what it is??

OK, I'm going waaay out on a limb here, but, to me it looks kind of religious-y. Maybe not Christian but def something on a staff, maybe a local chapter of "The Knights of something" . Is there a shrubbery nearby?,just kidding mangum, but it does look ceremonial to me.

Here is a picture of a Victorian gas valve that was on ebay. The valve goes in the middle and the end T's to other fixtures.

Thanks for the help everyone, great IDs!!! I remember seeing one of these on this forum before, just couldn't remember exactly what it was. I love finding ornate stuff like this, just shows the attention to detail people used to put into things. HH!
