Ornate Cast Iron Weight of Some Sort?

Hey guys!!

A buddy gave this to me and I'm trying to figure out what the heck it is...haha. He didn't know either.

I was thinking maybe a weight for a grandfather clock??

It's cast iron and weighs about 5 1/2 pounds.

It does remind me of the weights in old grandfather clocks but, 5 1/2 pounds seem a bit heavy for that? Pretty cool old cast iron piece whatever it is.
