🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Ornate something

[Older The Better]

Found a larger piece of an item I had found many years ago. From a cabin in the woods that has been gone since the 50’s or so. Both sides are decorated so I feel like it was meant to be seen from both sides.
There is a notch on the one piece like it slotted into another piece or held something .
It seems like it would make sense the pieces mirrored each other but the tabs seem to match up better when it’s more of a long S shape
Any ideas?

Oops i guess i left out the ruler. It’s brass and fairly thick. I don’t know if you can say it was poured in a mold but it’s definitely not stamped. both sides have relief

Wonder if they are 2 pieces of a brass trivet. It appears to be raised up b/c I see light underneath (yellow arrows). Are the "tabs" in the yellow boxes broken off or are they there to raise? Posting a side view pic would be helpful.

Appreciate the interest, It was originally flat, just a little bent up, to me I’m wondering if the tabs are where it joined with another piece or maybe what’s left of a hinge. There are the tabs that I’ve shown and I think another under the little slot area other than that it appears complete…

another little nugget of info, Boy Scouts would occasionally camp there in the 70’s and 80’s but doesn’t seem scout related to me, but maybe someone knows something I don’t

What about something like this? Maybe the two don’t join together but are a pair of holders
