All Treasure Hunting
I had previously posted that my family was looking to buy a couple new detectors to hunt together with. We picked up one at the local dealer today and headed out in the back yard. Our haul was a several pop cans, 1936 indian head nickel, a 1940 wheat penny and the biggest of all our septic tank distribution box. lol Imagine our surprise after digging a nice deep hole to hit concrete.

Glad to see you found something......Keep at it the silver is coming!

Nice finds, and how great to have a family with such treasure hunting instinct. I see many years of family fun ahead.

Timelab,
I'm curious what detector does your family have? You might want to mark the spot on your detector where it picked up the ST so you can pass on that type of signal in the future. From your post I can tell everybody had fun with the Septic find and after all that is what family is all about, out together having fun. Great Stuff, thank you for sharing. Buffalo nickel, Nice........63bkpkr

We were doubled over laughing 63bkpkr. We got a Whites Prizm 6t. I'll make a note of that tone tomorrow. The tank was way left of where we thought the plumbing was supposed to be. The buffalo nickel and penny we found in the middle of the woods at last light. The detector was still pinging on the hole so we'll have to investigate more tomorrow.

Awesome nickel, hope to see a silver post soon!

How interesting, looks like the Prizm 6T may have kinda paid for itself in that now you know the actual location of the tank. As the machine was still pinging there is still something else there. What took you off into the forest? I mean the coins you found there are 'old' indicating it is a good spot but were there surface signs, broken pottery, cans, that led you to go there or was it curiosity? Whatever those coins are worth finding so congratulations on a nice find.......63bkpkr

Welcome to t-net! Clearly your family is already enjoying the fun, so it'll only get better! I've been detecting 2 years and no Buffalo nickel yet, lol. When detecting, please be careful to avoid underground electric cables. I'm no electrician but am very careful to look over new areas to notice where there are street lamps, etc. with underground electric cable in or near yards, parks, fields, etc. Hope you'll post more finds soon! :hello: Andi

Congrats!, some great finds for sure.

We had been digging the garden spot but were turning up a ton of pop tops and trash. Just on a whim my dh ventured down into the woods. Finding the coins was totally by mistake. We were blindly wandering and happened to get a ping. Couldn't believe it wasn't another pop top. Beginners luck I guess.

Sounds like yaw had a great time, that's what it's all about.I'd check that spot ya dug those coins up real good.might be some great discovery's there.congrats
