This was a fairly long drive for us into the next County to show our last seasons finds to one of our newest land-owners (only started last year). They both have a keen interest in history which always helps when showing & sharing out the finds/coins. They also wanted some IDs on the coins that their resident detectorist had found over the years.
After our show & tell we tried a short hunt in the nearest horse paddocks. Their son with his detector joined us & we shared a few tips.
We then moved to a large Winter Wheat field & started what I call loose gridding; gridding a large area but missing a couple of runs every turn. So as to cover more ground & sniff out any hotspots.
We didn't get into any older hotspots but we finished with a fair amount of finds;
(Picture 1 is Dads previous solo hunt on local fields; 17th C Token, & a fake Shilling, plus bits...)
Buckles
Lead Cloth Seal
Tudor Book Clasp
Couldron Foot
Roman Nail (eyes only)
Early Jetton
1899 Silver Sixpence
17th C Latten Spoon Bowl Fragment with Fleur-de-Lue IR stamp (topical - Hey Bill
)
Unusual 17th C Button (never had this type of raised pattern before)
Spur bits..
