Escaped the cold for a week back at our beach shack. The northern OBX area (Town of Duck) are unfortunately really sanded in. Did some site seeing and shelling in Cape Hatteras, nice 3' cut in the sand but this is in the National Seashore Park, so no detecting here. No cuts in the beach by me and there is so much sand that the boardwalk stairways are sand chutes. The waves here are pretty much always at least 2-3' at the gravel break zone, the water is cold and I don't have a water machine, so I do wet sand zone up.

Walkway to beach

Mermaid youngest daughter in action
First 3 night hunt netted less than 10 clad coins. So decided to hit the condo grounds, and local tot lots the last 2 nights. These appeared to be hit as well, but not carefully. Found a bunch of clad and some other "treasures" in the fringes, near metal posts (lowering sensitivity way down).

Found one keeper

This is stamped Sterling Chapel? This is my 5th religious silver pendant this year, but by far the nicest!
Close up of the other "treasures" including a 1999 100 Colones coin from Costa Rica. (Many of the merchants here winter in Costa Rica, so not super surprising.) The owl charm looks silver, but not stamped.

And it seems like I can find bullet casings just about anywhere. Is this typical police issue ammo?

Happy new year and good luck in 2017!!
