Outhouses

[OutBack Duo]

My brother-in-law digs old outhouses looking for bottles and I have asked to go along next time. Would this be a good opportunity to metal detect? He says that he usually digs anywhere from 3 to 6 feet down. Has anyone else had an opportunity to dig an outhouse? What can I expect to find?

oh geez... well you can expect almost anything that can be lost including bottles, children's toys, false teeth, jewelry, coins, guns,
matchbox cars, lighters, etc. or a whole bunch of nothing!

You could pour dirt on a plastic tarp and then metal detect. Some like
to sift dirt in sifter boxes as used in gold mining or archie digs. You either get lucky or get very big muscles *L* j/k

Just make sure it is an OLD outhouse. Digging current ones is not fun. I'd rather buy the stuff on Ebay.
