Got a chance to head out to my CW camp for a third time this year, and was not disappointed. There’s almost no modern trash in this area, except for a handful of shotgun shells, I try digging every signal.

The highlight of the trip and the last target of the day was a long time bucket lister for me. CW Box Plate! Unfortunately is was wedged between 3 roots and I could barely squeeze my hand down into the hole...I feel like I caused the damage on left side of the plate with my digger :(

A nice assortment of bullets; the top row is from the “bullet hole” mentioned in the previous post (all came out of a very small concentrated area 3ft by 3ft maybe).

Middle row of impacted bullets also interestingly enough came from a very small area, I’m guessing a position that’s as taking the brunt of the incoming fire.

Last row were just random drops scattered through the area.

A few misc lead items (after I tooth picked the dirt off off the large lead pice, I discovered some scratch/intentional writing on it, which I think is kind of neat).

Two IH pennies, can’t read the date :( and a decent looking General Service coat button.

Mystery item: it looks like a ring for harness attachments on a musket but I’m not 100% sure, any ideas?

The mystery item looks like the bottom barrel band from a 1816/40 or 1842 springfield musket (.69 cal smoothbore) nice hunt!!!!

Looks like a great outing. Congratulations on some excellent finds.

Wow...that's a good day! Congrats.

You easily dug $300 bucks worth of three ringers. Way to go on the plate!

You did very well. It's hard to even get a bullet some days.

Glad you caused the damage and not the roots themselves. Nice bullets, button, and the IHCs, Locke.

Locke, a very nice hunt, especially like the box plate and the IHPs - knowing they were from CW...good luck with your hunts...Walt

That box plate is great. I would never find anything like that around here. Nice bullet haul too. Congrats.

Haha really? I’ve never sold my finds but didn’t realize 3ringers could fetch thy much :)

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

Those roots can you drive you crazy. I have started carrying some hand ratchet sheers. Great area you are nice to see that bucket lister was saved.

No joke, I was going at that hole for probably 20 minutes, it was pushed under a tree itself with the 2 thicker roots creating a tunnel.

Super find. Nice going on the plate!!

Nice save!!:icon_thumleft: You can never have enough lead!!
