Oval brass ID plate?

I've been trying to figure this out for the past 2 hours. The closest thing I could find is a postal plate. It has initials M.T.B. and I found it in the same area as a US Eagle coat button. Old plantation house site in Mississippi. Is this a trunk plate? Sorry for the bad pics. Thanks

Looks like a plumbing tag...whats crazy is, if you google vintage plumbing tags..theres a bunch with the number 39...not saying that's what it is but check it out

Thank you! It very well could be. Trying to figure out if W.T.B. was a local company here or an individual. A local museum is seeking my help and I'm retrieving artifacts for them. That's why I'm needing help with this one :/ Thanks so much
