Oval disk with square hole. 5 on back. Coinish size. Any ideas?

odd! my first inclination is to say it's a Chinese cash coin (right size, the square hole fits) but there are no characters on it and Chinese cash coins definitely don't normally have incused numbers on them. Plus, do I see edge reeding too (definitely not characteristic of Chinese Cash coins)? If it's heavy I'd say it might be some kind of coin weight.

I agree with Silver Searcher... if it is not that it may be a "concho" type of adornment... would have been held with leather strap. Fringe jackets sometimes have these.
