I absolutely hate hunting artifacts when the sun is shining.
It cast shadows and makes it difficult for me to see everything.
I guess I'm asking if you like to hunt in the sunshine, overcast, or does it even matter to you?

I prefer early morning sun or late evening sun. The angle of the light and walking the right angle is key imo. Midday sun, and overcast days with sunshine and cloudshade are tough I think. Consistent cloud cover can also be good.

Since I do most of my hunting in the water, I prefer the sun straight up in the sky. You can see in the water better with no glare.

I agree with Newt when hunting water.

I prefer to hunt on cloudy days. I can see everything better then. I don't see things as well in the glare of the bright sun.

I've often wondered what others thought about this, I tend to prefer cloudy conditions. However, I go when I can, rain or shine, so if I have to hunt in sunny conditions I try to keep the sun in front of me so my shadow is not in my line of sight.

In our neck of the fields in Illinois, I perfer cloudy conditions or early morning sun. I need to try some this water hunting stuff.

i will have some input on this subject later
it is basic, but i think it will givr me a lo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I prefer sunshine when hunting waterways but the ideal conditions for plowed fields is a overcast sky with light rain.

i hunt the deserts, large flat areas or areas with tons of rocks. in the winter months sunshine is a blessing so i can see the "flint" shine sometimes from 30+ feet away. best is in evening when the sun is going down to the west, just walk westward and see the shine :) in the summer months its almost impossible to go out without overcast because the heat exhausts you and makes it difficult to focus. lol, sometimes on overcast, ill just wait at a good location and as soon as the sun shines for a split second i will jump up and haul azz and cover a long stretch looking for the gleam

Overcast is best for surface hunting, fog is a bonus, it makes the flint almost glow in the wet ground.

it really dosent matter to me,the stuff i find wouldnt shine even if it had car polish on it.but i do like cooler days to hunt in. jamey :tongue3:

Haha you are funny Jamey !!!! I like that sun with a hat shielding my eyes makes that flint shimmer and jump out at ya and chases the shadows aways. Of course any day is a good day.
