Ok so I am new to the bottle side of T-Net but the more I dig up the more i want to know about them. I hail from Streator Il which used to be the Glass Manufacturing Capital of the World as we like to say. I want to collect older bottles made in Streator which will take time since I'm down in South Carolina. This bottle i found at a site where I've been digging up CW artifacts and I ended up finding a more modern dump site. I know that the left side 12 means it was made in Gas City, Indiana. But other than that I'm not sure. Is it a medicine bottle or pill bottle? The seam goes all the way to the top. I think the bottom number is either 15 or 45 (leaning towards 15). Not sure what the right side number/date code is. So yeah take a look and let me know what y'all think. I appreciate any info you can provide.

This is a bottle made by the Owens-Illinois Glass Company, mid 40s, 50s.

Thanks. Can i ask how you know its from the 40's to 50's just so i can get better at aging?

Sir, you've just opened a great big can of worms! Haha, here's a nice SHA article on the 'bewildering array of Owens-Illinois Glass Co. logos': https://sha.org/bottle/pdffiles/OwensIllinois2015.pdf

I'm just going off my round idea of what these kinds of things look like, but someone on this forum will know how to better read the codes!

Maybe that '45' on the bottom means 1945? I'm not too sure.

What's the number on the right, this appears to be 1920-30ish...

Looks like 7 to me with the dot after it, so i'm gonna say 1937

I might have an old bottle or 2 made by SB&G Co tucked away somewhere. I think they are slick beers from the 1880-90's. Send me your address in a private message and I'll send you what I have, if you're interested

I thought it kinda looked like a 7 with a dot as well. Not sure if that means 37 or not. Just starting to research what all the codes mean.

7 with a dot is 1937, no doubt...
