Came across these while detecting in the Forrest where an old house once stood... Anyone put an age on them?

Dang I'm jealous. I'm guessing that all those keys don't go with that lock ;). And as for an age on them, I gotta say that they are AT MOST from the 1940's, only because of the modern key on the end. But I could be wrong. Congrats on your find and HH

Wow, that's a fantastic find! Do any of the keys work?

Thank you John :) really cool to know they are old.. Any value to the lot? Or just a nice keepsake ? Curious

Hey grant ... Haven't tried yet... Was afraid to lol.. Think it will be ok to open?

Groovy keys! Great lock! :icon_thumright: I was born in 1942 and they look at least as old as I do, ha-ha. Hope someone with expertise will give ya the straight scoop on age! Andi

I hope you're not as rusty andi :p

Hey you go John-Deere

Hey you go John-Deere

I know that this one is older than that other one by the style of the lock, but I can't give you an exact age. Maybe late 1800s-early 1900s.

Yes this one came from a house built in 1700 and was lived in until 1930...

Very nice! Not often you find a whole key ring and a lock!

Um. Valid question! Now I might be afraid too :)

Clean the lock with care, apply a light coat of oil both in and out. try the keys but be gentle and dont force.
you should be fine.

Nice lock- Soak it in ATF for a week or so/ rinse off/ and it should work if it isn't broken internally. If it doesn't turn completely- don't force it- just soak it some more and try again. Auto-Trans fluid has an amazing ability to free up frozen/rusted things. GL+HH. yelnif...
